MP Urges  Take Up Of Lottery Funding

Crispin Blunt today released the latest national lottery league table for the Reigate constituency. Reigate remains anchored firmly at the bottom end of the league where it has been since 1997. Currently Reigate is ranked 629th out of 659 constituencies in the amount of money awarded to causes in the constituency. Reigate lies 613th in the number of individual awards, and 536rd in the average value of awards.

Commenting today, Crispin Blunt MP said:

“This consistent position over eight years would appear to provide evidence of some institutional bias in the system against constituencies like Reigate. I urge people contemplating a lottery bid to reinforce their case by pointing out the relative dearth of payouts locally.  I am very happy to obtain the most up to date statistics for people contemplating lottery bids.

Despite the fact that the government have reduced the value of the lottery to sports, the arts, and good causes, by creating the new opportunities fund which goes to subsidise government expenditure, I hope local people will continue to apply. I believe we should have a stronger case pointing out the bias already evidenced against us.”
