Disabled Children's Assessment and Services Bill
Ed Balls introduced a ten minute rule Bill to make provision about the assessment of disabled children’s needs and to amend the law relating to children, placing duties on local authorities and the National Health Service in respect of disabled children and their carers.
The Bill would give disabled children the right to a local authority assessment and to receive services.
It would give disabled children and their families the right to short breaks and respite care, something that is already provided for adults under the community care regime.
The Bill would also require NHS bodies to work co-operatively with local authorities to promote the health and welfare of disabled children in
