Tourist Accommodation (Wales) Bill (Draft)
This Bill was not mentioned in the Queen’s speech, but appeared in the background notes.
The Draft Tourist Accommodation (Wales) Bill is designed to fulfil the Welsh assembly government’s ambition to provide for the statutory registration and inspection of tourist accommodation.
The legislation provides powers to prevent businesses which fail to meet standards, from trading.
The national assembly will also be given powers to classify accommodation.
Under the Bill, procedures will be created relating to the registration criteria and standards, signs to be displayed by establishments, and an appeals system.
