This Bill will amend current electoral registration system by abolishing the annual canvass in Northern Ireland.

It will also give the Chief Electoral Officer increased powers to access data held by other public sector organisations. This will enable the Chief Electoral Officer to concentrate on making the electoral register both accurate and comprehensive.

The legislation will introduce more transparent arrangements in relation to donation controls for Northern Ireland political parties.
