The microgeneration of electricity, defined as “the generation of low-carbon heat and power by individuals, small businesses and communities to meet their own needs”, is rare, especially on a domestic scale.
Campaigners want solar panels, CHP plants burning woodchips and waste and small-scale wind turbines to become part of the government’s drive to increase power generation from renewables.
