Policy

The Academy assists in the development of policy on engineering issues at national and international levels by formulating policy statements and submitting expert evidence to parliamentary and government bodies.

The Academy's Fellows offer their expert advice on a wide range of issues, both in response to requests from government and other bodies and on the initiative of The Academy.

  • Philosophy of Engineering
    A series of events exploring philosophical issues in engineering research and practice
  • PolicyNet
    A network for individuals in Science, Engineering and Technology policy.
  • Ethics & Engineering Working Group
    The Royal Academy of Engineering set up a working group on professional ethics during 2003 on the view that it is timely to debate this within our profession and with others.
  • Academy Risk Project
    The Academy's risk project is concerned with identifying the major areas of engineering risk, and developing a greater understanding of how they can be assessed and managed.
  • UK Focus for Biomedical Engineering
    A forum for the promotion and development of biomedical engineering.
  • International: CAETS and Euro-CASE
    Gatherings of engineering organisations in and worldwide aimed at promoting the interests of engineering.
