What we've achievedSince The Prince's Trust was established in 1976, it has helped over half a million young people. In 2003/04, we supported nearly 38,000 young people. Of those:
- 62% of participants were educational underachievers, including young people with low basic skills, those truanting and those excluded from school
- 14% of participants were offenders or ex-offenders
- 61% of participants were unemployed
- 9% were in or leaving care
We helped:
- 3,712 young people start their own business. Ongoing support was provided to 9,081 young people
- 8,078 young people at risk of exclusion through our xl clubs in schools. 815 xl clubs operated in schools nationwide
- Nearly 8,800 young people gain skills and confidence as part of our 12-week personal development programme, Team, delivered in over 300 locations across the UK
- 859 groups of young people gain skills through delivering a community project and provide support for 218 ongoing projects
- 2,729 young people with cash awards to help develop their skills
- Mentoring and ongoing support for 5,552 young people
