GCSE and A level QCA’s Mori survey
29 March 2006
Commenting on the results of a survey carried out for the QCA by Mori into confidence and perceptions of A level and GCSE exams, Steve Sinnott, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, Europe’s biggest teachers organisation, said:
“The confidence in the two exams shown by those most involved - parents, pupils and teachers - is in welcome contrast to the skepticism of the media each year when the results are published.
“These three groups know best how demanding the exams are, the workload carried by students and teachers if they are to be successful and the integrity of the exams.
“Despite constant claims that the exams are less demanding now, the view of teachers with more than 25 years’ experience contradicts this view.”
