NUT Reaction to the Prime Minister on Education

Commenting on the Prime Ministers assertion that his Education reforms in England will get rid of a two tier system Steve Sinnott General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers said:

“The Prime Minister is in denial if he believes that his proposals for Trust schools will not lead to a two tier system. All the independent evidence shows that a two tier system will be the by product of so called self governing independent status.

His encouragement to schools to go for unlimited expansion and adopt their own admissions policies will damage the most vulnerable communities. His backbench members know that. He is the only one that doesn’t”.
