Drug Rehabilitation & Detoxification Programmes:
The Foundation supports programmes to help people overcome the harmful effects of drugs, whether this is addiction to street drugs, alcohol, medical drugs, or assumption of bio chemical or other harmful toxins within the body. For example there was the detoxification of firemen heavily affected by the poisonous fumes created by the Sept 11th terrorist attacks which left hundreds of firemen with damaged lungs and other medical afflictions. A programme has now been set up to handle all firemen that have been affected in this way through effective detoxification so that they can return to their duties in full health, as many have already done by doing this programme.
Drug Education Lectures:
The Foundation encourages drug education lectures to be delivered to schools and other establishments to educate and provide factual information to children and adults about the effects of drugs on the body. These lectures have been conducted throughout the world and credited with numerous letters of appreciation from teachers and students alike. Over 1.5 million students have attended these drug education lectures.
Criminal Reform Programmes:
The Foundation takes a very strong interest in seeing that effective criminal reform programmes are implemented in prisons around the world to help criminals reform and again become part of the society. Through groups which the Foundation supports, thousands of criminal offenders have recovered their own true sense of honesty and pride and have become productive citizens. Ensenada State Prison is just one example where the implementation of Mr. Hubbard's criminal reform methods has proven to be successful with validated results.
Programmes to improve the moral standards of the society:
The Foundation also supports social betterment programmes that assist areas within the society to reduce violence and improve moral standards and bring about increased understanding and agreement amongst the people. For example through distribution of The Way To Happiness booklet (a non-religious series of moral guidelines created by Mr. Hubbard) in over 70 countries, hundreds of thousands of people have been provided with this common sense moral code. Just earlier this year the Foundation distributed some 30,000 copies in India. This has brought hope to people who can now see a way out of the everyday conflict and moral decay of the society.
Conflict Resolution Programmes:
Members of the Foundation have given assistance to areas of the world in conflict or at war with one another to help them understand the actual causeof the differences so that these can be resolved without violence or force. The Foundation has worked with members of the U.N. and a number of African countries to provide them with a method of conflict resolution which is simple, effective and which will bring these countries closer together in alliance.
Educational Programmes:
Another area of activity for the Foundation is to support effective educational programmes for schools across the world. Seminars and teacher training courses have been delivered in over 75 countries. Utilising the Hubbard method on study these programmes have made a significant improvement to the quality of education taught in schools and colleges where these programmes have been run. Recent seminars conducted in India have shown marked improvement in students' ability to understand and apply the information being taught and test results show that in most cases there is a significant improvement.
Supporting other Charities:
The Foundation also organises and hosts a number of events throughout the year that forward and assist other charities and betterment organisations to achieve their aims. The Foundation co-sponsors an annual charity concert that has donated over60,000 pounds to UK charities over the last 3 years including The Royal National Lifeboat Institute, The Drug Rape Trust, the New York Firemen Relief Fund and other local charities.
