The India Study: Mr. Hubbard's Study Methods In Indian Schools

In the past 3 to 4 years members of the Foundation have been supporting studies of educational projects conducted by volunteers and charity workers in India to help to improve India's educational standards. Mr. Hubbard's methods have been piloted in a number of schools and have been used to train teachers throughout the North and South of India including New Dheli and Mysore.
In January 2001 in Mysore, India, a number of seminars were conducted with local school children, teaching them the fundamentals of Mr. Hubbard's study method. Teachers of the various schools concerned were also given seminars and provided with materials to utilise in educating their students. In both cases the students and teachers were relieved to have been given these elementary basics to improve the quality of education in their schools.
In Rohini, New Delhi, volunteers have been working to assist in delivering the Learning How to Learn Teachers Course for the District Institute of Education and Training. The Learning How to Learn Course is taught by the book in that it is not a"chalk and talk" sense of teaching but instead is conducted by a highlytrained supervisor who watches the students to ensure that any barriers tolearning are correctly remedied and verifies that each student reallyunderstands the materials.
The student works at his own pace through a series of reading assignments and exercises by himself or with a partner as appropriate
The work done with this group of teachers was conducted in coordination with the Head of D.I.E.T. (District Institute of Education and Training) New Delhi. |
