BRC AND 15 RETAIL CEO'S SEND FINAL PLEA TO MANDELSON ON ANTI-DUMPING
2 February 2006
The Director General of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and CEO's from 15 leading UK retailers, have again written to Peter Mandelson today, in a final plea to stop EU antidumping duties on plastic bag imports from China and scrap an unnecessary investigation into whether China is selling plastic bags in Europe too cheaply . These anti dumping duties, if imposed, could lead to serious cost implications for retailers and inevitably, their customers. Currently, the majority of imports into the EU come from China, where raw material prices are low.
The Association of Charity Shops, representing around 6,000 charity shops across the UK have also now joined the BRC's campaign to stop these duties being imposed and halt any unjustified investigation.
