Classification Guidelines

The BBFC published a new set of Classification Guidelines for film and video in September 2000. These Guidelines are based on extensive research and public opinion testing carried out over a six month period at the end of 1999/beginning of 2000. This included ten public presentations around the UK, a nationwide survey of almost 1400 people, a website questionnaire and two Citizens' Juries where draft Guidelines were submitted to one of the most rigorous scrutinies of any regulators Guidelines.
