Amicus reaction to CFS outsource work to Capita
9 November 2006
Co-operative Insurance (CIS), part of Co-operative Financial Services (CFS), has today announced that it will be entering into a new partnership agreement with Capita Group PLC for the Life and Savings administration business.
This means a number of staff will transfer from CFS to Capita Group PLC. The staff will transfer in early Autumn 2007. The employees will be based within existing CIS city centre offices in Manchester.
Amicus Regional Officer, Hugh Jones Glass says, "During the pre consultation stage, the CFS Executive Board had two options of remaining in-house or working with an external partner. We put our case to the CFS Executive Board arguing that they should support the in-house option. Although due consideration was given to both, the board have decided however to take the outsourcing option.
"We do understand the commercial reasons for this decision, and because we have been involved from the outset, the union has safeguarded jobs. On a positive note the staff will be based in a CFS building within a mile of their current location. The union has the normal assurances under the TUPE Regulations that terms and conditions will be safeguarded and we are in the process of developing a positive relationship with Capita."
