Shelter has launched a campaign aimed at  ending the "devastating impact of the housing crisis on over a million children in Britain".

A spokesperson for the ODPM said: “Poor housing can affect children's health and their chances in life. That is why the government has set clear targets to stop families living in bed and breakfast accommodation and to bring all social housing up to a decent standard, by tackling the £19 billion backlog of repairs left in 1997.
