The Department for Transport and the Treasury have published a consultation document on road fuel gases.

Transport minister David Jamieson and the economic secretary to the Treasury, John Healey, have invited views on how the government can best ensure that future support for LPG and natural gas continues to reflect environmental and other policy objectives.

A spokesman for Vauxhall told ePolitix.com: "Vauxhall are pleased that the government have released the road fuel gases consultation and allowed the motor industry to provide feedback on this important issue.

"The government has consistently stated its commitment to new vehicle technologies as well as providing benefits to promote alternative, cleaner fuels.

"We hope that through the consultation the government will be given sufficient evidence to continue the benefits awarded to the new alternative fuel markets.

"Sales of Vauxhall LPG vehicles have so far increased by 60 per cent year on year. The company has the largest range of dual fuel vehicles in the market place, which is shortly to include a Corsa 1.2 litre model."
