Forum Brief: Healthy eating
The government is to stamp healthy supermarket food, such as fruit and vegetables, with the NHS logo in an effort to persuade consumers to improve their diet.
Forum Response: Consumer's Association
A spokesman for the Consumer's Association told ePolitix.com: "Any initiative that will show consumers how to eat healthily is welcome."
National Consumer Council
Diane Gaston, head of external affairs at the NCC told ePolitix.com: "This is a valuable initiative to help boost healthy eating. People have told us that they want clear, accurate, honest information they can trust on food labels.
"To ensure the scheme is a success, government must make sure that it is well publicised and uses language that everyone can understand. The logo must also be properly controlled, so that it only appears on food that meets the standards that have been set."
