Forum Brief: Strategic Plan for London (Draft London Plan)
Ken Livingstone has today unveiled a £100 billion plan for the redevelopment of London.
As well as creating office space for 600,000 extra workers, there are also plans for the building of 130 new schools, several new railway lines and three new river crossings in East London.
Forum Response: Corporation of London
A spokesman for the Corporation of London told ePolitix.com: "Every major city needs an overall co-ordinated strategy, and London has been without one for many years now. The fact we are one step closer to a new strategy is warmly welcomed.
"The Corporation of London will consult its stakeholder groups about the detail of the document prior to submitting comments to the Mayor.
"We will continue to serve the City of London and are pledged to protect the role of London as the world's leading international financial centre."
Forum Response: London Tourist Board
A spokeswoman for the London Tourist Board told ePolitix.com: "We welcome the mayor's plan as it is important that there is a co-ordinated approach in order for London to achieve its true potential. We also welcome the fact that the plan refers to the economic importance of tourism."
