Eoin Redahan, director of public relations at the Stroke Association, told ePolitix.com: "It is scandalous that many people who suffer a stroke have to take pot-luck on the kind of provisions available to them.

"Investment in stroke services in terms of time, staff training and money are urgently needed to ensure that everyone who has a stroke, whether young or old, receives this kind of care without further delay."
