Conservative peers yesterday conceded defeat to the Commons on the government's plans for fast-track extradition to the US.

MPs had twice overturned Tory amendments to the Police and Justice Bill in a game of parliamentary 'ping-pong', before the Lords backed down despite continued Liberal Democrat opposition.
