Less than one dentist in 10 can offer unregistered patients an emergency appointment on the National Health Service, a survey by Which? has found.

The consumers' organisation said yesterday that eight per cent of 300 dentists questioned could not offer an emergency NHS appointment on the same day or in part of the next day.
