Lord Ashcroft rejoins Tory board
Lord Ashcroft, the controversial Conservative donor, has rejoined the party's board following the third successive election defeat.
Ashcroft bankrolled a handpicked group of candidates in the run up to the poll, and is thought to have lent the party £1m during the campaign.
The appointment comes "in view of his outstanding contribution to the party's progress in winning target seats", the Tories said in a statement.
