Productivity department 'inefficient'
Business leaders and opposition parties have criticised the "evolution" of the Department of Trade and Industry into the Department for Productivity, Energy and Industry as a rebranding exercise rather than an attempt restructure or refocus the ministry.
The FT says raising productivity rates will be its big test, while the Conservatives slammed the department's own poor efficiency rate.
Meanwhile the Telegraph reports that the public sector spent £1.9bn on consultants last year.
