A candidate in one of the most hotly contested seats in the election had eggs and vegetables hurled at her during a Jewish memorial service for the war dead.

Oona King, the pro-Iraq war Labour candidate for Bethnal Green and Bow, was attacked as she joined mourners in her constituency yesterday.
