MPs hit out at drug firms
Britain's drugs industry encourages patients to take medication for "unhappiness", according to a committee of MPs.
Drugs companies have been heavily criticised in the report, by the Commons health committee, for promoting the wider use of medication to increase its profits.
The MPs called for stronger controls on the promotion of new drugs until more was known about their side-effects, and for an urgent review of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulation Agency.
