April 1: Prince set for countryside role
The government is lining up the Prince of Wales for a new role as 'countryside tsar' in a third term Labour administration.
On April Fool's Day, the Guardian reports that Prince Charles will work alongside Alan Milburn and Lord Birt to restore the countryside's confidence in central government.
Labour also wants to see fox hunting rebranded as a "sport for the many not the few", suggests the paper's 'staff reporters'.
In another questionable story, the Independent reports that Jamie Oliver has been selected as the Tories' candidate in the controversial Arundel and South Downs constituency.
