Bethnal Green 'dogfight' begins
George Galloway and Oona King, the two main candidates in the Bethnal Green constituency, have begun their election campaign, commencing what is likely to be the "hottest political dogfight" of the coming month.
Sitting Labour MP King has been out and about campaigning, while Respect candidate Galloway has also been spotted meeting the constituents.
In 2001, Bethnal Green and Bow produced a comfortable Labour win, but Respect has the seat in its sights after the new party narrowly won the Tower Hamlets seat in the European elections, with just 20 per cent of the vote.
