Israel frees soldier who shot Briton

A Foreign Office minister has expressed her shock at a decision to allow an Israeli soldier implicated in a British journalist's killing to walk free unpunished.

James Miller was shot dead two years ago as he filmed a documentary in Gaza.

Lady Symons, the Foreign Office minister, said that she would be meeting the Israeli ambassador next week.

"I was very shocked and saddened to hear that the disciplinary proceedings that followed the Israeli defence force's investigation into James Miller's death have ended in this way," she said.
