Straw welcomes Wolfowitz World Bank nomination
President Bush has nominated Paul Wolfowitz, the key architect of the Iraq war, to head the World Bank.
While Germany and France expressed their concern, Jack Straw, the foreign secretary, said that Wolfowitz was "very distinguished and experienced internationally" and added that he would look forward to working with him if he secured confirmation.
The World Bank provides funding for development projects in the world’s poorest countries and is traditionally headed by an American.
