The husband of the murdered jeweller Marian Bates has labelled Nottinghamshire police constable Steve Green a "a menace to law and order". 

Green had recently sparked political controversy when he blamed government policies for an increase in violent crime.

Now Victor Bates has said: "Nottingham has never been as lawless as it is under this chief constable."
