India aid should stop, MPs say

The government has been advised to review its aid to India because it will become a middle-income country in 10 to 15 years.

India is the biggest single recipient of aid from the Department for International Development, receiving £200m a year at present.

The Commons international development committee will announce today that due to rapid economic progress in the country, British financial assistance is no longer needed.
