Minister intervenes in medicine row

Health minister Stephen Ladyman has stepped in to stop the National Institute of Clinical Excellence taking four Alzheimer's disease drugs off its approved list.

The move to consider the wider social implications of removing the medicines from the market came despite a warning it would undermine the watchdog's work.
