The European Commission in Brussels is to take legal action against the government over contracts awarded for the design and construction of the £431m Scottish Parliament building.

The Commission accused Britain of breaking strict EU rules over the way contracts were handed out for the Holyrood building in Edinburgh.

Ministers now have two months to explain the way the selections were made.
