The Ministry of Defence has been urged to put a contract for replacing its Lynx helicopters out to competitive tender.

Cabinet ministers met yesterday to discuss whether to give the deal directly to Italian owned AgustaWestland, which has a plant employing 4,000 people in the West Country.
