Tony Blair is to ask Gordon Brown to co-ordinate the government's campaign for a "yes" vote in the referendum on the European constitution, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The paper says that in return, the prime minister would endorse the chancellor as his successor halfway through a third Labour term.
