David Blunkett was in Keighley in West Yorkshire yesterday to campaign for the Labour Party.

In his first formal engagement since resigning from the government in December, the former home secretary said: "All of the Cabinet will be key campaigners.

"The prime minister has asked me to join that team and the [central] unit and regional offices will be giving me the necessary support going round the country."

He also refused to rule out rejoining the government after the election.
