Government departments are struggling to cope with the Freedom of Information Act, claims the Times.

The Home Office, for example, has not met the deadline of responding to inquiries within 20 working days for a minimum of four information requests.

The lord chancellor said that more than 4,000 requests for information had been sent in since the start of the year.
