Every school, college, and university should twin with a counterpart overseas, the chancellor said yesterday.

Speaking on the first day of his visit to China, Gordon Brown said Britain had to adapt to the challenges posed by the rise of the Asian economies.

He highlighted education, science, and financial services as the key areas where attention should be focused.
