Teachers should lead more school trips, according to the Commons education and skills committee.

The MPs called on ministers to intensify efforts to promote the benefits of fieldwork trips, outdoor activities and visits to the theatre.

The committee also criticised NASUWT, the country's second-largest teachers' union, for advising members not to take pupils on trips because of the risk of lawsuits.
