NHS managers cash in
Research by Income Data Services has revealed that the highest earning NHS chief executives are making more than most Whitehall permanent secretaries, as well as the prime minister.
Hammersmith Hospitals trust paid its boss at least £210,000 last year, while the Cabinet secretary earned £205,000 at most.
The growth in managers' salaries is also outstripping the NHS average for nurses, doctors and other staff by more than two to one.
