Brown ponders help for first time buyers

Gordon Brown is considering including tax cuts aimed at helping first-time buyers in next month's Budget.

Labour campaign sources say "the numbers" for the Budget are better than predicted by those outside government. Labour are reportedly looking at ways to counter moves by the Tories to make tax an election issue.

The Conservatives will announce how they would distribute their planned £4 billion tax cuts after the chancellor has set out his plans.
