The Conservatives have dismissed the threat of a vote-swapping website which is aiming to encourage Labour and Liberal Democrat supporters to work together to defeat senior MPs such as Michael Howard and Oliver Letwin.

A senior Tory tells the Times that the electorate is less inclined to vote tactically than in 1997 and 2001.
