Benefit fraud stuck at £3bn

For the 15th successive year, auditors have queried the accounts of the Department for Work and Pensions because of doubts over the extent of benefit fraud.

The National Audit Office found that there has been no reduction in malpractice in the past three years, with the annual cost to the taxpayer stuck at around £3 billion.
