Charles Kennedy is taking charge of Liberal Democrat policy development.

The Lib Dem leader is insisting on chairing the post-election policy review and is said to favour bold environmental policies and more progressive tax plans.

Kennedy is also said to be on a diet - after having put on weight over Christmas.
