Labour voters see Tony Blair as much more likeable than Gordon Brown, according to a new Populus poll for the Times.

Some 81 per cent say they think that the prime minister has a likeable personality.

Just under two thirds (65 per cent) like the chancellor, with a quarter (24 per cent) saying that they do not like him.

The survey also shows that Blair, Brown and Charles Kennedy are regarded as likeable personalities by about half the electorate.

Michael Howard is seen as likeable by just over a third.
