The Territorial Army is to be cut by 40 per cent when defence secretary Geoff Hoon announces a major army reorganisation later this week.

The move could save one of the four infantry regiments set to be axed this week, reports the Telegraph.

The Guardian adds that the political fallout from arguments over scrapping some regiments has led to the announcement being delayed from today until Wednesday.
