Voters braced for more tax rises

A majority of voters expects that taxes will rise if Labour wins the next general election, according to a Populus poll for the Times.

Seventy one per cent predict that taxes will go up following a Labour victory, and 48 per cent think they will rise if the Tories are elected.

Some 64 per cent think that Britain's economy is "doing well" but 48 per cent believe that this is "not much to do with Gordon Brown's policies".
