Bank hints at interest rate cut

The Bank of England has hinted it will cut interest rates in the spring.

Minutes of the bank's meeting earlier this month to decide the level of borrowing costs revealed some members of the committee thought little had changed since the November meeting, and no change in interest rates was appropriate.

"For others, the downside risk to the inflation projection had increased, but not enough to make a persuasive case for a reduction in interest rates."
