Hoon: Restructuring not just for cost-cutting
Writing in the Telegraph today, defence secretary Geoff Hoon insists that plans to radically restructure the Army are not designed to cut costs.
Instead, he insists that the move - which will lead to the scrapping of four regiments, including the Black Watch currently serving in Iraq - will increase the number of troops available for operational deployments.
