Minister warns on anti-gay prejudice
Attending a conference in St Kitts, international development minister Gareth Thomas will today say that homophobia in the Caribbean, from anti-gay lyrics in dancehall music to the attitudes of churches and other community groups, is having a damaging effect on the fight against Aids.
The international development minister will warn that such attitudes are preventing people from taking HIV tests, inhibiting high quality HIV prevention work and fuelling the Aids epidemic in the region.
